In 2000, Israeli magician Uri Geller sued Nintendo for £60 million over Kadabra. He stated that "they had turned him into an evil, occult Pokémon". No agreement has been reached yet and, because of that, no Kadabra TCG cards have been released since 2003. He said that both have "psychic powers", spoons as their signature items, and Kadabra's Japanese name, Yungerer, (ユンゲラー) is similar to his own name in Japanese (ユリゲラー). He also claimed that the patterns on his head and abdomen are, somehow, references to Nazi Germany.
